carburetor question?

hello there my engine is a 1984 mercruiser 228/305, the carburetor is a rochester 4 barrel manual choke, I have the opportunity to get a newer carburetor out of a 1995 mercruiser with electric choke, how can I install this carb with the electric choke or can I disconnect the electric choke and use manual thanks.

Pick up the purple wire on the positive side of the ignition coil.... That has +12v when the key is on. Remember to run a ground up to the other side of the choke too...
