What ezmobbe said. I've never seen one before. Looks like a huge ship from the front. I like it!

What an interesting design, and I don't mean that in a bad way. Lots of cabin room. How is she on the water?

Re: cargile cutter

new cargile cutter owner. i was checking out craigs list to look at a boat my son was interested in and came across a post that said house boat for sale.$1500. they had 2 pictures of the backend and it did look like a house boat that was on a trailer. had to call phone #and he said it is a 71, 28 ft cargile cutter. he said also that the top deck should be replaced completely and if i had a problem with that we should not talk any further. thats why it is only $1500. he said to check out cargile cutters on the enternet and i said i am able to do the carpender work necessary. i check it out not knowing what a cutter was or looked like. the first few pictures i saw made me realize this was something way different and special. i called the owner back and we talked for a while about it he said it is more impressive in person than in pictures. by then i had cutter fever and sent him $200 down by western union. sight unseen. how dumb is that. 3 days later my son and i went to denver with our truck and tools. i must tell you that when i walked up to this monster i was very impressed. got it home, got the water bailed out of it and dried out, i think. some one that knows these boats from end to end please email me. i need info and have a jillion questions.

Now there is a boat I would be happy to put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into. Very unique and definately a rough water tank! I want it...I see a for sale sign in the pic...can I come get it now?

Re: cargile cutter

seadated. super nice cutter. looks like mine. got 2 qwick questions i have right off the batt. lots more later. i must replace upper deck completly and it was setting in denver and we had the worst winter in years. first thing i had to do is vac out compartments and dry it out. i took out carpet and there is a strange looking chrome cap at aft end of cab. its down on the floof so had wild visions of pulling cap while in water and getting a 4ft fountain of water. kind of like in a cartoon. its marked by factory "water" will i get water or is there a tank under floor. which brings up another question. is there a bilge? can it be inspected to see if it is full of water also. does it have fiberglass incased wooden ribs, do the ribs have holes down low on them so if there is water down there it will gravity feed to other compartments when pumped out? if there is bilge water does it flow back to engine compartment and become visable? what is that hand pump in the floor of the head? what happens to the water when a shower is taken. sorry i got carried away. my first boat was a cressliner 18ft all alum cutty cab and had none of this stuff. my manual was under water and got so distroyed. do you have one? as it is out of print, would you make me a copy and how much. can i give you a heafty deposit, you send it to me and my wife copys it and i send it back. i,m open to any thing. except driving there, grand junction colo is a long drive. if you don,t want to get involved in my manual problem just ignore that part of post. i,ll understand. dennis g. ps named her "miss monstro".

Re: cargile cutter

iv,e seen a few pics of gargile cutters in the water and they do set level in the water. even the ones that have 2 motors. my ist boat was a cressliner all alum cutty cab and the design back in 1979 was wide in front and narrow at the back letting it sit with rear end down and bow up. never did like that and it took a lot of plowing through the water and lots of trim to get it to plain out. i wonder if maybe heavy in the front end isnt all bad. i,ll let you know when i get my cutter on lake powell. dennis.
