LOL. When the new paint job on my boat started to fail pretty much immediately, I was like "whelp, guess I don't need to be taking care of that anymore!"

Here's the info on the car: http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=516478

Sorry ez but I can't resist. I bet it was because you didn't get that vasoline on there in time and now your wishing you could back in time. You can go ahead and delete that comment, lol I just had to get that out there because I lnow you've shut those threads down before.

Good luck with the car though, I seen it on your other thread and it looks good.

I would like to add that it really isn't so much important what brand of product that you use to maintain your new car finish as to how you physically treat the surface. That being said will most likely cause a lot of debate in this thread. But really if you have a perfect finish already on a surface the most important thing you need to do is not to harm that already perfect finish.Pre-Rinse well, Use a Foam gun to apply foaming wash,Hand wash with 2 buckets and use grit-guards in the bottom of both wash pails, one pail for clean soap and one pail for dirty rinse use really good wash mitts.I am not a detailer LOL but I found this information from a really cool YouTuber video and would like to pass it along to my fellow i-boaters.Follow the link to the videos, they are long but I promise you if you take the time to view this guys videos you will know what you need to know about taking care of a cars finish. The guy that does these videos supports Adams Polishes but that isn't the reason I would recommend watching them it's because he does a very detailed and thorough explanation how to use the tools to care for a cars finish.Go to YouTube search for adams polishes and look for Junkman 2000 he has lots of videos.

Correction to previous post the 2 bucket wash method is one bucket for and one mitt for the bottom third of the car and the other bucket and mitt for the top two thirds. The main reason for using the two bucket method and the use of a foam gun is to prevent causing swirls and EZ the black will highlight imperfections more than any other color, but if you don't cause those imperfections to start with by using proper wash methods you will be much happier.Only other thing is that if you lived in the South you would have a really good oven in the summer months LOL I love the look of black on black but here in Ga it's not a good choice.By the way I am redoing a 16' SS in my gravel driveway LOL

Zaino. No contest. Been using it for 10+ years. It's easier than you think; the hardest part is getting the first coats down. After that, it layers perfectly, can be used on glass, and makes your black vehicle look like it's a mirror.

Good luck!

Lots of good products out there but the fact is-"ain't nothing lasts more than 6 months". Remember all coatings are a sacrificial barrier and need constant renewal. That's their job, keep crap form sticking to the paint but they don't last forever due to normal abrasion, heavy car wash chemicals, heat expansion etc. Black is especially bad if it gets away from you, takes a pro to get it flat again. Mild soaps are a must, regular washings mandatory BY HAND, no stinkin' automatic car washes! The chemicals are WAY too hot and most of them have brushes that will strip/scratch your clearcoat first pass. I recommend a professional polish once a year with black or red paint with at least a couple of waxings. Especially true with Japanese clearcoats that are notoriously soft and will trap dirt and grime permanently if left for more than a year. My cars are white for a reason...
It's really basic especially with US painted cars that use VOC compliant paints. They are typically water based and get brittle with normal expansion and contraction. Dirt gets into the small fissures in the paint and causes surface failure. Any wax regularly applied keeps the surface flexible and takes that beating instead of the paint surface. Softer poly paints on imports don't typically peel like water based paints, but dirt drills them and they're very prone to swirls and pitting. Again, a barrior coat will prevent this.
Annual professional polishing will keep the paint surface flat and clean off the chemical and dirt build up that causes dulling and paint failure. But it's GOT to be maintained with regular waxing to keep the top coat flexible.
