Hi All,
Well, I spent the last hour reading posts about carpeting, and one thing is clear....there are a lot of opinions about it! Some really good arguments on both side, some great tips too.
The old boat I got has really hideous carpeting on the floor and all the way up the sides. Despite some good points about the benefits to not using carpet, I think that I wan to replace it, rather than pull is up and try and refinish another section of the boat. I have enough to do to restore the gelcoat.
My question is about adhesives. I think I am going to go with glue adhesive rather than the spray on 3m 77, even though several people posted about how good it is. I just think I have a better comfort level and trust in some glue adhesive that you trowel on.
I am a concerned by some of what I read on the product pages though. I saw this stuff:
http://www.pontoonstuff.com/pontoon-boat/44-marine-carpet-glue.asp But you need a whole GALLON for only 8'x10'? Yikes! That's a little scary.
Is this a bigger project than it looks? Getting up the old carpet and gluing down the new?
Thanks for the help guys, this forum has already been a huge help!
