Re: Carpet of Skit-No-More
I used Evercoats' No-Skid (I think it is the same thing) on my center console project. It is the rubberized paint with rubber traction niblets in it. I had great success with it, and it seals the floor very well. Just make sure you sand the entire surface with 40 or 60 grit, I used an orbital sander to speed things up, then wipe down really well with Acetone. That way you have maximum adhiesion. You will also need to stir it constantly or the niblets will settle and you will get erratic coverage. I applied mine in small sweeps to create a pattern so it looked good. I prefer it to carpet because it doesn't hold water and gives me the ability to hose it out if I want. I used grey, and it does not get hot at all, even in glaring hot sunny days, you can walk on it in bare feet and it is cool to the touch and the niblets are soft so they do not hurt. Also, you will NOT slip, it grips like Anna Nichole Smith on Old Man loot. You will want 2 gallons, and you will want to do two coats. I used 1 gallon on my 16.5 foot project and ran out on the second coat, but was closed enough. It does a good job of sealing any screws you screw into the floor, but you should still use 3m 5200 to seal them. Can't be too safe.
