Casting Deck

I have a 1988 Venture Tournament Edition. I am looking to extend the casting deck back to the console in order to give me more space. I want to put a couple compartments under the deck as well. Any help on what materials to use, as well as what to do to make sure that the new deck is stable in terms of making sure that there is no give to the wood since there is space underneath the wood? Also, does anyone know a website or good place to call to find carpet to match the original carpet?

For the fiberglass deck use the red Search Feature. I used it to put my new deck in there's a few days worth of reading on decks.
