I just purchased an 88 Bayliner 1710 (I think) The transom and main floor are good, but the casting decks in the front and rear are not so good. How do I remove these decks to replace them? Can they be removed in 1 piece and used as a template for the replacement wood? I am a new member here and appreciate any insight.

Re: Casting decks R&R

Welcome to the forum!

I have an 86 Bayliner, and my decks are attached with bolts/nuts around the perimiter of the deck, through a fiberglass ledge that holds them. I have removed mine before with no issues, and they can be used as a template for new decks (if they are not so rotten they fall apart on you)

As long as you are taking them out, make sure to check your stringers and transom as well.

Good Luck!

Mark,
Thanks for the info. I thought maybe that's how it was attached. I'll be sure to check the stringers and transom as well.
