The wife saw a cute little cat jump out from under the boat tarp the other day. When I checked it, I saw some bird feathers on the floor, and a nasty odor coming from within the boat somewhere. I looked and couldnt find the cause of the offending odor. Well, when I got home from the lake today and was cleaning out the boat, I found the present that the kitty had left me. A nice headless bird, complete with a nice little *urd. He left it in the rod box which I had left open to help dry the carpet after my tarp leaked. It was way up under the front deck, and the bumpy boat ride moved it to where I could see it.

Now If I could find the owner of the perpetrator I would hand deliver the present their cat left me. When I find the cat, well lets just say problem solved. Why do people let those vermin roam the streets? Maybe I could let my dog walk on their cars, poop in their garden, and leave dead things on their porch.

Because in most communities, cats are considered free natured animals because of the overwhelming difficulty for animal control facilities to babysit the increasing numbers of irresponsble pet owners.Your situation is not unique.Welcome to the new millineum.Every year cardinals build nests in the low lying shrubs on my property. Each year the nests are invaded by loose house cats.Animal control departments will even issue you a trap free of charge to trap the cats.Go figure.

OB,
Think I might give the animal controll folks a call. Good thing is, the local animal shelter has problems adopting out cats, especially ones that are wild, like the ones around here. Why is it a good thing? Kitty goes to sleep.

I just wish these PETA types and municipal animal control depts.would get their head from where the sun don't shine and recognize that domestic house cats are not part of the endemic laws of the wildlife scenario.Yet.Meaning that the endemic bird spieces and other wildlife don't consider their nesting sites and habits around the epidemic level presence of loose hungry house cats which appeared relatively recently in the eco chain.I don't hate cats.Just unkept ones.

cpj
Did ya have to mention cats on iboats LOL
They are a real problem in cities.
We have 5 cats in a city.
4 of them we control very well. They only go out in our back yard when we are there.
And then plenty of times we have had to chase them down. Even with a 6 ft chain link fence.
But their momma! Forget it. She was a stray outside cat when she came to us.
We will consider it a natural death if she craps in someones boat! Just do it quick and clean.

Re: ***** cat problem

It's an international problem CPJ...there's a bunch of cats from around this neighbourhood who regularly have fights over who gets to live in my boat...I wouldn't mind if they didn't make such a mess with dead birds & rats etc...

Partially open a can of sardines, just enough for the odour to get out but not let the cat get into them, the ones in soya oil work best, and put it in your neighbors boat down the street. No more cat problem for at least a month or the boat owner finds the sardines, which ever comes first. Don't as me how I know this works.

Re: ***** cat problem

I always aim to keep cats out of my stuff on my property. The local sheriff said its okay with him.

If livestock and dogs cause damage or death, the owner of said animals is responsible. How come cats are exempt? Being cute and fuzzy doesn't get it on my property. Guess the old farm boy in me stands strong on animal control.

Why not make a nice boat for kitty?

Take a burlap bag, roll the sides down a bit, insert a cinder block for ballast, invite kitty aboard, then launch!

Re: ***** cat problem

anti freeze soaked hot dogs work pretty well.

The wifes cat found that out the hard way. For some reason(against my advice) she started letting the cat out. He saw the other cats getting into trash, I guess he got into the wrong trash one day. The vet said it looked like the anti freeze and hot dog cure for strays to him.
