Catching cod? in Bodega? tips?

I'm planning on taking my little boat out into the bay in Bodega. I heard some people were catching some nice size cod out there. I've only caught little rock fish and crab out there. Any tips? Funny thing, I've never seen anyone catch a big fish there....but hear the stories, lol.
