Kids and myself were cruising along our river on Sunday and out of nowhere a duck came flying accross the river very low. Before I knew it we clipped its feet and the damn thing landed in our bowrider. The kids were going nuts, I thought it was dead. it was under the helm. I slowed down to try and calm the kids down. The duck got up waddled to the very front of the bow. Enjoyed the ride for about 10 minutes and then decided to just fly away! The craziest thing I have seen in a while.

Re: Caught a Duck?

i know it caught you by surprise and you weren't ready for the correct response. But in case it happens again, you should go over this checklist before you leave the dock and assign duties to your family members, based on age and experience:

Pre-heat over to 450*
slice an apple and cut celery and carrots, large pieces
Have a soak of vinegar and salt ready.
place the plucked and dressed bird in the soak for an hour
remove, dry and salt and pepper the cavity.
insert vegetables (into the duck)
Rub breast (the duck's) with bacon grease
Put in oven in covered roasting pan, then reduce heat to 375.
Cook wild rice
make a sauce of butter, red wine and worchestershire.
Cook until leg wiggles (the duck's)

You may want to change the name of your boat. The Duck was trying to catch a Lil Fish.
