well, ive been saying for a while now that i was going to start my own resto thread so now that i have alittle time i figured id actually do it .. lol. a little background on this boat ... when i first came to iboats i wasnt even looking for a starcraft but ehn i saw the pic of bigskiohio's boat and i was sold. as you starcraft guys know finding an ss is no easy task. i was lucky and there was another member who was also kinda looking for and ss. im not sure who found my boat first but it was initially found for ezmobee. he went to look at it and decided at the time that t was just a little to much to get involved in after doing his jupiter eesto so he turned me on to the boat. it was less than 15 min from home so i went and looked at her and this iw what i spent $400 on ...

i sanded with 220 grit on a random orbital sander which worked really good and fast. you have to keep an eye on the paper so it doesnt build up and start to " polish " the paint and bare aluminum. the bare spots on the side of the hull are where i sanded/feathered out some decent sized knicks in the paint. i will be flipping the hull over and finish stripping it when i pull the motor off. for stripping i am using Jasco paint and epoxy remover that i bought at lowes. it comes in a gold/copper colored can and is in qt and gal size. this stuff is working awesome for me. im kind of at a bit of a slow down right now until i decide what to do with the motors and i am still pulling my hair out deciding on paint and colors. i will post again with more pics and details as i go along. scott

Hey Scott, just saw you started a thread. Wanted to make sure I posted so I'd be subscribed. Do you have a pic of the TnT unit from the Johnson?

CBG congrats on the SS:cool:

$400 is a great price if you ask me and since it needs work you'll end up with exactly what you need(just don't rush into any major decisions:D)

That 115 would really push her around nicely:)...good luck with the resto.

CBG, Looks like your having lots of fun with her...is that the right word? I know what you mean about figuring out the thread, I think posting the pics is the hardest part:confused: if it wasn't for the 13 YO I would be mailing y'all pics. Lots of luck on her. Steven

Looks like you got a good start on her Scott. If I were you I think I would stay with the Chrysler or maybe even look for a newer in better shape motor. That 115 Johnson looks really rough. Good Luck with the resto.
