I have a 1987 85hp Force.. Keep having problems with the #2 cyclnder missing, found out tonight it is the red wire running from the CD to the #2 coil. I move the wire around & it intermintently works.. Being the wire is sealed in the CD anyway of fixing the short without replacing the CD??

Re: CD Ignition

You might just small grinder bit, to dig-out enough of the filler to allow for soldering it back. But note that these wires seldom take a straight route thru the goo, and it may turn just below the the surface.<br />But it can be done. I've done it myself, of a Merc switchbox. I've failed also --- But it wasn't werking before I tried, so no loss.

Re: CD Ignition

I'll give that a shot, thanks.. I am guess if you drill out to much of the goo it will ruin the CD?? Also I'm not 100% posotive the short in wire is within the CD itself, it might be after the CD, any way of telling for sure, and is there any place I can buy a new snap connecter to the coil should I find a short in the wire after the cd?
