I have an AC Delco distributor in my 1988 4 Winns 350 boat. I have read where some people replace
the esa module with one from CDI. What is the reason for changing, and what improvements can I
expect? Thank you, John

I would contact CDI. They will let you know which module to get and how to hook it up to a Delco Voyager distributor.

Because the standard omc ESA module won't work with your distributor so you won't be able to get your boat out of gear. In case you didn't know what it's function is, the ESA stumbles your engine when shifting out of gear. That is all it does. There will be no performance increase. ESA stands for electronic shift assist.
