Hi guys. I just received a new power pack from CDI for my 1986 evinrude 90 hp and everything looks right except the 4 wire amphenol connector. The pins are in the wrong location. The factory powerpack has the 4 pins arranged in a crescent form and the CDI unit has 3 pins in a row across the bottom and the 4th pin in the middle on the top to form an upside down T. Is this normal? what am i supposed to do with this? Any insight is greatly appreciated.

That's a similar difference between the packs on the earlier V6 engines. The connectors were different. I'd call them back and ask them to double check the year pack that you asked for, vs the one they sent.

Re: cdi powerpack issue

Thanks for the quick reply emdsapmgr. The part # i ordered was 113-3110. That is what the book says and thats what the sticker on the powerpack and the box say. The only thing i can think of is that the pack itself was stickered wrong and put in the right box. How do these CDI units hold up anyway? Are they good quality or cheap aftermarket junk?

It is possible that the power pack will work on your engine, but has the wrong connector. If the wires on the new pack are the same color as the original factory pack, you may be able to just swap the rubber end connector on the new pack to the older connector. Consult with CDI. I've not used a CDI pack-have always used factory parts. I'm sure you will get many comments from others that have used CDI parts.
