So I'm looking to hang a cell phone holder or pocket on the console near the 12v charging socket. What have you guys done or do you have any ideas?

I just set mine on the dash behind the wheel. But I do like the car mounts and that could be used on the boat. The ones made for your phone will charge when the phone is in it and you could run power to it all the time. I see your cup holder but that's probably in use all ready.

Since we have a windshield on our boat, I use one of these generic phone holders. It swivels so I can turn it horizontal and run a Navionics app. Then I just plug the phone into the 12v plug on the helm to keep it charged. I think it would still work to attach it just to the helm since you don't have a windshield.

I have used velcro. the loops on the back of the phone, the hooks on the dash. looked tacky, however it worked.

I have also used the windshield suction cup mounts, however have had them come loose when hitting chop.

current boat, I stuff the phone between the throttle binnacle and the gunwale padding or in the drink holder.

Sorry for the late reply. But I use one for my GPS and they have a custom mold for my particular model. I would look at some of the marine mounts that utilize the X mount. or the aqua box models if you do not have a waterproof case.

Can't anyone go out for the day to enjoy without a cell phone ?? geez.
Emergency, use your marine radio. every boat should have one. Fixed or Handheld.

A marine radio on a 380 acre lake? Maybe if I can stream pandora on it. :)

Well, I do see your point about the over-use and reliance of cell phones, but since I can't afford a 3,000 dollar chart-plotter I very happily use several apps on my phone such as the cheap Navionics, EarthNC, GPS, Boat Ramps, Sea Tow and more I can't think of right now. I actually enjoy using these apps hence the need for a good holder.

I use my phone on the boat only to run the Navionics app -- I'm too cheap to buy a nice chart-plotter when a $10 app works perfect for me. And that's why I use the holder that has a suction cup to attach it to my windshield -- so it's in perfect view for me.

Not sure if the OP wants something to just put his cell phone in while he is on the boat or wants something to hold it to actually use it for navigating. My impression is he just wanted a place to store it while underway.

Yup....to clarify, I want one use while navigating and to be near the 12v socket for the charger. Thanks.
