center console visibility question

Got an 18' center console. The console has a windshield on it. That
windshield stays wet, and has restricted vision during each boat trip. A
solution to the visibilty part of the problem is to get a higher seat so I
can simply look out over the windshield.

Another solution would be to remove the windshield.

Some center consoles don't have windshields. For the guys whose c/c boats
don't have windshields, how much, if any, do you wish your boat console had
a windshield? I'm trying to figure out if removing the windshield is
actually a potential practical solution.

I have 20 Wellcraft V-20 the windshied is useless, with the height of the bench you can not safely see where you are going sitting down. I always stand driving and wear sunglasses...... because I'm taller than the glass. The brow on my boat is so wide I Never had any water spray in to the boat.....

CC boats are meant to be piloted standing.

Then why do a lot of CC's have leaning post instead of a bench to sit on ?

I have a CC with a windshield; the windshield is great when it is windy and starts to rain. It is nice to have respite when I want to get away from the wind or rain.

Otherwise, I am standing the majority of the time; looking over the windshield.

find a cheap marine windshield wiper on ebay! they are easy to install

I found my windshield to be indespensible when it was 33 degrees out and I am trying to get to my location to drop the downriggers. Now I have no windshield, and I will have to get one of those balaclava things to keep my face from freezing off on those cold mornings coming up...

Try rain x or even car wax on the windshield that will keep it clear enough to see through.

clean the window well and then rain-x like the above have mentioned. Huge difference.

If the boat has the windshield, don't remove it unless it is beyond repair. It is nice to have the option of ducking behind the windshield.
