I just became the new owner of a 1997 Wellcraft Excel 19SSX. It has the 4.3LX Gen+ with Alpha 1. I am doing some spruce up work, tighenting fasteners etc. and I was wondering if it would be OK to remove the center window? I would prefer to leave it open all the time but I hate for the passenger (S.O.) to have to look through 2 panes. Wondering if there is any reason why not to remove.

I wish I had the middle window for mine. Not that I would ever have it on....except in bad weather with the top up. But I don't really go out in bad weather....so....I guess it doesn't really matter after all. Just wish I had the option I guess.....

yep, bad weather comes to my mind too. i can't imagine not having one in bad weather. be it high seas and water coming over the bow or rain or wind. or all three together..

to bad more mfg.'s ain't hip like on my aristocraft. my center panel slides vertical. can be open a little, or half way or all the way. guess since closed bow boats ain't hip any more, there's no where for the window to slide away too. mine slides into a pocket under the bow.

while i don't go out in bad weather on purpose. i've been caught in some plenty of times. the center window is most important in them circumstances.. i've also used it to deflect a large passing boat wake that i've stuffed my bow into and get the full blast of water up the window... that's closed..

also. mighty nice to have a center window when boating in cool weather... lack of wind at the helm is a real plus too..
