Century Cardel owners?

I'm looking to find someone that has rebuilt a Century Cardel. While it is a Coronado, the internal structure is entirely different and I have some questions that can best be answered by someone who has "gone there, done that".

What questions do you have.

Much of fiberglass boat construction is similar enough, it shouldnt require a Cardel owner to answer.

Esp if you post good pix

I'm looking for some pictures of how the internal structure is built, while it is similar to glass boat construction, it's pretty specific to the Cardel. For instance the engine bed is not bonded to the hull as one would think, it actually is resting on glass and is raised up off the hull. All the plywood in mine is literally turned to a crumbly mess, while I can pretty much figure out how it all goes together, it would be helpful to talk to someone who has done one before.

Post a pix of the

Resting on glass, raised up off the hull

Motor mount

That sounds odd. Best of my knowledge, no currently active members are working on a Cardel.

Is yours an I/o_Or straight Inboard Cardel? Not sure, but I think direct or V drive can both be inboards.....

Pictures are a little tough right now as the engine is still in place, will try this weekend. It's a V drive, the straight inboard is a Coronado, the V drive and I/O would be the Coronado Cardel. As odd as it may be, I wonder if they were trying to make the engine bed only as strong as the rest of the hull. The engine beds are only about 6 foot long with a 2x spanning across the hull at the forward end. From that point, the stringers are/were 1/2" plywood. I was really surprised how minimal the structure was once I pulled off the floor. I was not originally going to re-foam it but with it being so light weight, I've decided to put foam back in as it actually seems to be somewhat structural. One thing I will do though is go with 3/4" plywood instead of 1/2", and probably join it to the engine bed.

That sounds like its made like most I/O hull motor mounts, not significantly different.....

Because of whatever layout a factory uses for stringers, some motor mounts do and others dont match up or align w the stringers. Some simply sister along side the stringer. Also depends on what a particular motor requires for motor mounts.

Yep, pix when you can
