my mom always wanted us to eat total with skim milk<br /><br />however, when I would visit my cousins, they had frosted flakes and vit D whole milk, which to me tasted like CREAM, lol, omg I loved Tony the Tiger and Bossie the Cow!<br /><br />These days, well, I try to source grains from a variety of sources both to gain additional nutrients that may be lacking in another gain, and to avoid specific pesticides pertaining to any single grain<br /><br />I like to toast dry oatmeal in a non stick dry pan, just til it starts to smell a bit nutty ... careful, nutty turns to burnt rather quickly unless you are using a low flame<br /><br />same with grits and rye and spelt and almost any rolled grain, kamut is good too<br /><br />sprinkle a little ground flaxseed for fiber (and lingans) and omega 3 rich oil, cinnamon for sugar control (oh yeah, and TASTE, yummm!)I throw a few raisins in too, or a dried fruit mixture, it rehydrates and gives variety to the meal<br /><br />good stuff, try it, especially if you are over forty and havent been too good in the Clean Living dept (yall know who yall are, lol)<br /><br />cooked or soaked overnight like muesli, its tasty stuff!
