I have a 1972 Mustard colored boat...glass with gel coat and the finish is very chalky. Someone mentioned that I should NOT compound it out, that there is a treatment for it, but he didnt remember what its called.... Any help
?

see, I was told NOT to compound gel coat....something about compounding the miror surface off and exposing micro bubbles that will collect dirt and never shine again

someone does not know what the heck they are talking about.

when you compound... the grit actually sands the boat... any "micro bubbles" (lol) are sanded out.... the shine is brought back with a polish....

i do old mustard yellow boats all the time... i can make them shine like a mirror in just a few hours... including a compound..
