Re: Chambers Share the Walls?

smashed, very nice analysis. It sounds right, but I'm newbie. Maybe some of the veterans can confirm.

Now, I am thinking the correct sequence of deflating the boat. I say, it should be reverse order of inflating the boat, that way the baffles do not go other direction from where they are when they are inflated.

What do you think?

If you have all tubes inflated to max working pressure, better is to deflate all chambers at one time, assume Mariners are 4 chamber inflatables, if both side valves are at arm reach, tell someone to position in front of you and at the cout of 3-2-1, push all air valves open. Baffles will stay internally ballanced and avoid baffle stress than can produce ungluing issues specially on older inflatables as when deflating chambers one at a time.

LD, If you inflate chambers evenly with a pressure gauge, to let's say 0.5 psi per chamber, on a merry go round basis, you should achieve well ballanced baffles inside all tubes.

Happy Boating
