Is there any advantage or disadvantage to using an "R" or resistor spark plug in the old Gale motors? I am aware of the fact that there will not be RFI produced when using the resistor spark plugs but I vaguely remember that you had enhanced performance from the resistor spark plugs.

I don't think I would run resister plugs in any outboard unless reccomended.
The 50s and 60s Gale motors run the same ignition as the E/J motors.

Resistor plugs put an additional load on the coils and should not be used. In addition, a weak ignition system may not even be able to fire them. Of course, if that is the case you need to fix the ignition.
