I have a blue stripe I don't really like. I finally got rid of the pinstripes. I wonder how they kept the cost so low with all those stupid stripes. There was even a pink stripe!

Whay gets me mad is that the stripe is not a pinstripe like I thought or a paint either. It looks like its gelcoat! I sanded the edge hoping for white but no go there.

So I want a red stripe pluse I want it to be smaller. Do I gelcoat a red stripe and then white over this or do I just get some poly paint.

Re: Change color of stripe

Sounds like a lot of work to me Realgun. I'd consider covering the offensive striping with a decal stripe in a better color. An auto paint supply shop would have the best selection.

I think you have too much time on your hands Realgun. The blue stip you are talking about....is it the band of blue about 12" high above the waterline ? Can't tell colors from avatar. If you want to change that color then paint is the best aproach BUT, if it was me, I would rather be boating on the water than painting in the driveway :D

My time is my own I will probably never sell the boat repower maybe but not sell. :)

Bondo that the point they were not red and still are not I want to fool people into thinking geeeze is that a Bayliner or not. :D

I usually devote 1 day to the project a week about 2-6 hrs. I work slow and meticulessly.
I screw it up and do it over.

I can use the boat now! But the cosmetics and wireing need to be done. soon very soon I will not hve to work on the boat much just maintianance.

I guess as I have said before sand sand fair sand sand paint wax then. Am I missing anything?
Would I be better off with 2 part paint?

Oh yes and roll tip is what i will do.

I screw it up and do it over
I thought I was the only one that did things twice :D I find the second (sometimes third) time around it always turns out exactly like I had planned. Just goes to show that practice does make perfect

Hello Realgun, I've been following your posts since becoming a member last year and want to say what a great job your doing on your Bayliner. I read this post and was just wondering why you could'nt just apply a vinyl pinstripe over the other one? Maybe I'm missing something. My uncle makes signs and I have seen dozens of colors of vinyl available. Just curious. :)

Expensive is the word there. :) BTW that stripe is gelcoat. If it had been a stripe I would have been very happy.

Well Realgun, after all the work you have put into your project you should have whatever color stripe you want. :)
