Change shaft on 200 XRi

Looks like I am picking up a 200 XRi to replace my Blackmax 200. The XRi has a different shaft length. Can I swap the shafts on these two motors to get the length I need? And if so, how tough a job is it?

Thanks

You'd need to swap midsections as well. That makes it a pretty tough job.

The shafts may very well be incompatible as well as the powerhead mounting configurations. I'd need serial numbers to compare, but I'd assume an 80s model and a 90s model would have many compatibility issues. Merc V-6s have gone through many evolutions.

Yuck! I was really hoping these things were all interchangable. I should have known better. That XRi is a heck of a deal, I'd sure love to make that work.

I'll get the serials for both motors. Would it be more feasable to swap power heads instead of having to swap mids?

Thanks!

Thanks, I just had a local Mercury guru verify that this is doable.

Thanks again for your help
