Changed impeller, no water from hub

Everything went back together fine (after I bought the new speedometer coupler:redface: ) The key is in place. I had a little trouble with the plastic sleeve that mates with the copper tube. It kept tilting over when I would lift the drive. Filled with oil, let the muffs run about 30 secs & cranked engine. Water comes out of the transom mount and started to get warm after the temp climbed above 100. Then I thought better of it & shut it down because no water was blowing out of the prop hub. Engine was drained for winter.

Should I have waited for the temp to reach 150-60 & thermo open to see water from prop or did I miss the copper water tube?

I dread the answer but I will have to look at it as a learning stage...

Out of the water, the majority of the circulated water will exit from the idle relief ports at the transom plate...very little will be seen exiting from the prop.

This will, of course, be the opposite when you are in the water and above idle.

Happy boating!

Ayuh,... Is there water in the block Now,..?? If not, I'd guess the tube isn't where it belongs...
You should see water flow, regardless what the T-Stat is doing...

O.K., the water flows strong from the idle relief ports. Does this mean that the water tube did connect or does the impeller have enough power to accomplish this on its own after enough water fills that space the water tube resides in?

I can pull a hose. Which one? If I am facing aft from the bench seat and looking at the 4-hose thermostat housing- upper left, lower left, upper right, lower right? Any of these? None of these, different hose?

Can I just direct the flow into the bilge or is this a bad habit, use a bucket dummy. I have a feeling I know the answer to this one.

Thanks!

Ayuh,... The lower most, portside hose on the T-Stat Housing is the In-coming line from the drive...

Pulled hose, made sure lower was drained of water, turned on water, jumped in boat & started it. Water started pumping into bucket in about 2 secs. Kinda pulsated though, not solid gushing like a garden hose.

Water coupler is connected to copper pipe? I did it right?

If yes, thanks to all for the help!
