I have a 93 Bayliner classic with a 3.0 Alpha 1 Merc...it had a 21 pitch alum. prop on it...but it was pretty trashed and the boat was very sluggish out of the hole....my buddy have me a brand new 17 pitch alum prop from his bayliner that had never seen the water...but it on and it seems to be running great...about 35 mph at full throttle and trim out...did i do the right thing here? Could I be hurting the engine?

More than likely you are under propped. What size/type of boat?Should be a label on the motor with max rpm rating. The 17 will work fine just don't exceed rpm recomendation.
Usually a 17 would be for skiing or heavier loads.

its a 19 footer, we do alot of sking, knee boarding and tubing, so the little 4 banger needs all the help out of the hole it can get! It seems to be doing fine...I just try to watch the RPM's...just wanted to make sure that I was not not making a mistake that someone else had made
