Hi Waterbouy;<br />It's really no big job to change the gimble bearing. I say it't no big deal, if you you have the right tools. OMC made a special tool to get behind the bearing and connected to a slide hammer it would come right out. They also made a installing tool to re-seat the new bearing. I suppose that you could come up with something that would work. When installing the new bearing make sure that the new bearings grease hole is in line with the zerk fitting on the starboard side.<br />Hope this helps
