Well I decided to start getting the boat ready for the season.
I was installing a new battery and happend to look over at the exhaust
and noticed a little stream of rust running down this elbow looking piece.
this piece bolts to the top of the exhaust manifold and conects to a rubber hose
with hose clamps. Can you buy just this piece? or do you have to get the whole
manifold? There is a small crack in it. could you fix it with jb weld.

specs. 302 mercruiser 888 outdrive 1977

you can tell its been leaking for awhile from the rust. had a small amount of water in bilge when i would stay out all night. run the pump once over night.

Be easy on me my first post second season boating.

Be easy on me my first post second season boating.
sorry, if ya haven't replaced yer manifolds and risers, yer due on a '77. $$$$. but it may be what ya need to do. if manifolds and risers fail, they leak water into yer engine, then ya'll be wishin ya'd spent the bread for new manifolds and risers. more $$$$ than if ya'd done the manifolds and risers in the first place. if ya got cracks. did ya winterize it? like at least drain all the water from it. it's absolutly imparitive ya do that. or ya get cracks, then yer hosed. at least take take them apart (risers and manifolds) and inspect them. put'em on a bench and fill them up with water in the water jackect side, see if they leak. leaks into the exhust runner ya don't want.....
i had me a leak in my manifold when i got my boat. just about cost me an engine. lucky me i got onto it with in a day or two to get the water out. and that's about how much time ya got to do the deed if ya get water ingestion too. not much time... was touch and go..... ya don't want water in yer engine.

I winterized it correctly but i dont think the guy before did the last time. the other side looks brand new black paint still shiney. dont think its leaking into the exhaust used it all last season like that no milky oil. im the 2nd owner of this boat 21ft. Reinell cuddy still has original vinyl on the seats. kept in a garage since day 1. how much would new manifolds cost?

500 bucks for manifolds and risers for a 302?????? Where are you shopping????
Its more like 500 per manifold and the risers are probably 150-200 each....
