Hello everyone this is your favorite cadet reporting. I am stilll tinkering around with the boat getting it all fixed up. I am in the process of changing plugs, wires, cap, rotor, etc. I need some info on a couple of things and I know my fellow omc buddies will have the answers. Fuel filter location? What is the correct timing and dwell adjustment? And most importantly, any advice on changing the drive belt? This baby is going to run like a champ. Just hope that nothing ever happens to the lower unit because the boat will be worthless. Thanks for the help.

Ryan

PS. Does not look too fun to change the belt :-(

One side of your eng mount(belive it is the right side facing the eng)is two pieces remove the bolts and a good 2" section will come out.
After that changing the belt is easy.

Good luck

Fuel filter is in the pump.Unscrew the top hold down nut. There is an upside down bowl remove it and the filter is in there.
Should be able to find it at any auto parts store.
There should be a water/fuel seperating filter installed. And a filter between the carb and pump.G-12 or G2 (depending on hose size) at wally world. The water sep is available there too.
I think it's 8deg btdc.And 29-31 dwell.
Keep a spare set of points and condenser on the boat.J

Thank you for the info. I can't wait to get it all tuned up. I am changing rotor, cap, points, condensor, thermostat, etc. Should run excelant and give me a little comfort out on the river knowing it has all been done.
