I have a Merc Alpha 1 and 4.3MPI I/O Combo. Gettign ready to do my 20 hour service and winterizing.

Was planning on doing it myself as nothign seems to be too complicated. Until, I was reading hoaw to change the drive unti oil and it sayes you have to pump the unit full until air stops coming out of the vent hole.

So, where do I get a pump to do this with?

You can get a pump and adapter that fits on the lower at any marine store. It should screw in the bottom of your lower unit once you drain out old oil. Pump the oil in until it runs out of the top screw. Once it starts runnig out of the top hole replace top screw and quickly replace bottom screw.

Cool, thanks for the help. I got the procedure down.. the manual actually had good instructions on it... just didn;t know what kind or where to get a pump.

I bought mine at my local wallmart store.. Any boat shop will have them, they cost less than $10..

if this is an alpha Gen II drive you need to drain and clean the reservoir, remove the fill and vent plugs from the drive, refill until oil appears at the vent, then install the vent plug, with the resvioir cap still OFF, continue filling untill the reservoir is full. install the reservoir cap and reinstall the drain plug, make sure your gaskets are in good shape.
