changing from a long shaft to a short shaft motor

Hi people i have a 1959 johnson 18 hp outboard motor its a long shaft i would like to make it a short shaft i have a 10 hp evinrude short shaft parts motor looks like the same bottom half that i have on the 18 hp would the shaft from the 10 hp fit in the 18 hp if not any suggestions or where could i find parts for this older motor
