There is not much you can simply do to test. With the ignition key on go back to the engine terminal board. Using a jumper wire jump the orange wire to ground and the buzzer should sound.. If you have a Mercury ignition the overheat wire may be a different color.

The sensor is in the head. It is a little more trouble but remove the circlip and pull out the sensor. Heat with a cigarette lighter until it is way to hot to touch (shouldn't take more than 15 seconds) then touch the sensor to a good ground. The buzzer should sound.

If the buzzer does not sound, remove it and test against the battery directly with a couple of wires attached to it. If it doesn't sound replace it.

Well I have great news. I took the boat out today after installing the new impeler kit, new fuel filter and water/fuel separator and it did great. The alarm did not go off which means in fact that the impeller was bad. Thank you everyone.

Ok so today I went out crabbing and the motor ran really well, although at one point all of a sudden I started loosing power and even though I had it at wot the motor just started slowing down. I thought I was running out of gas but at low speed it was running good. And if I tried to give it gas it didn't seem to move get up and go, it was really bugging out. And then out of nowhere I went from neutral to wot and the issue went away. The boat ran good the rest of the evening. Could it be bad gas and the motor just happen to burn the bad gas? Like I mentioned earlier, I put a new water and fuel separator and a new inline fuel filter.
