Most lower units are held on by the four nuts on the lower unit. You must remove these and there is usually two towards the back of the lower unit.There might be a plastic cap covering a hex bolt that holds that steering tab in place. Once this is removed usually it is covering a bolt from the botgtom that needs to be changed. Once all five or six bolts are removed the lower unit shojuld drop. Then there might be an o ring on the drive shaft that needs to be removed.Remove the four small bolts that hold the plastic cover over the impellar.Lift that plastic housing over the driveshaft. Then you will see your imppellar. Slide the impellar up but notice how it is held in place with a key.Take your new impellar and put the key in the driveshagft and slide the new impellar down.Take your plastic cover and slide down on driveshaft,turn your driveshaft by hand clockwise so the plastic housing will fit over the impellar.slide your o ring down over the driveshaft and put the screws back in the plastic housing . Installation of lower unit is oppsit of removal. I would do two things since you are putting a new impellar. Change the plate that the impellar sits on and you might have to get one or two gaskets with that.Also any time you remove bolts in the lower unit or plastic housing, I coat them with gasket compound. Mercury sells it and so does omc. It is brown. I put it on bolt threads and gaskets. Good luck
