Changing lower gearcase oil on 1979 4hp evinrude

I'm going to change the oil in the lower gearcase but can't find a vent plug .I can only find the drain plug.Do you just lay the motor on its side and fill until it over flows?

yes, let it kind of burp, & fill it slowly
