Does anyone have first hand experiance with mounting a Gen ll drive to a Gen l gimbal. I know it can be done. There is some difference in the shift linkage and possibly the outside diameter at the bell housing. I am not sure about the trim rams. The reason for the question is I have a new gen ll
and owe a huge favor to someone who needs a gen l, to change the transom assembly is costly. Any experiance would be helpful

Can you give me anything more specific than {it wont work}

The Gen.II is a nearly Total redesign of the Alpha drives,........

It Won't Fit...........

If you Grind, Bend, Pound,+ Beat it Together,............

It Still won't be Right........

If you still need More Spefics,...... Maybe Don has a Picture or something........

I know it can be done.

I've heard that too, been working on these things for years and have never figured out how it could be done so it would work. A few have said they thought it could and explained how, but no one has done it.

But since you KNOW it can be done, let us know the process and show some pictures so others will know how also.

I realize that the drives are different internally however the drive yoke and bolt pattern are the same at the bell housing and I believe that the throw is the same direction for the shift mech. I was looking for info on the differences between the shift rod heights and trim cyl. mounting
