Hello all:

I am re doing all my races, seals, and bearings. On one, when I removed the Hub, the rear (larger) bearing was pretty much destroyed, and I think the steel melted all over my Spindle. Steel Wool is not taking it off, how do I take it off please?

Thanks.,..photo.jpg

If you were able to get the new bearing on the spindle your golden. Clean it up as best you can and put it back into use.

Some emery cloth and a speedi-sleeve will get you up and running just fine. That seal surface looks to be toast! Without a speedi-sleeve, the new seal will not last very long.

yep the black stuff is a non issue but you definitely need to clean the seal surface up... start with emery cloth and use a sleeve if you have to

I agree with what the others have said.
But I am less optimistic that you will ever get the surface the seal rides on servicable. With that much rust, installing a speedi sleeve is a pain. And the sleeves are not cheap.
If the other side is similar it may be time for 2 new spindle assemblies.
