changing oil in 96 merc 5.7

hey guys cant find in the manual.....do i have to pump the oil out or does the 96 have the tube on it that i can pull through the drain plug near the bilge....thanks

No drain hole tube on the '96. Either suck it out through the dipstick tube or remove the plug and dump it in the bilge.

which do you think is better i would think unscrew the plug so that any sludge or metal would come out (hoping that metal would not come out) would be better than pumping...what do you prefer

I hate mess in the bilge, so I suck it out the dipstick tube. I was curious once (only once ) as to how much I was leaving in the sump by doing that. So after I sucked it dry one time, I pulled the sump plug out.... Not a drop! So as long as you do it when the oil is warm, no problem....
