Changing oil

I have read most of the info on TCW-3 oils on this site. I have been using Yamalube 2M in my new 2005 90 2S. I am paying about $17 a gallon and this hurts to pay that. So I am going to switch to a cheaper brand.

My question is whether or not the different oils will work together? I think I read somewhere on this site that mixing them caused them to combine and glob up.

Does this matter?

Searun1

Re: Changing oil

Searun. I mix oils all the time with absolutely no problems. Some people suggest not mixing synthetic and dyno oils, but I've done that too with no problems. If you're worried about it, just run your reservoir low and then add the new stuff. At $17 a gallon, I don't blame you, YIKES! Mix away.

Re: Changing oil

Thanks for the help fellas. The NMMA guy responded very quickly and gave me a serviceable answer. He said that while some manufacturers call for a certain oil (Yamalube) it shouldn't be a problem to mix them because they all pass a similar set of tests and are of high grade.

Searun1
