Can anyone give me an idea on how to change the brake rotors. Previous vehicles have had the rotors that were held on by the wheel nuts. These ones look like I may have to remove the hub. Never done this style before. Any information is appreciated.

Colorado, looks like it is held on by the lug nuts also.

I wish it was that style..... Forgot to mention that it has the Z71 suspension package and six bolt rims, if that makes a difference.

Going to have to take the tire off again and double check then get back to you.

Thanks anyway.

Sounds to me like the rotor is held onto the rear of the hub by lug bolts that pass through the rotor then through the hub flange. The lugs would need to be pressed out, though I will admit I have used a 5 pound hammer to pop them out and put them back in when doing these types of systems. And yeah, you have to remove the hub on these setups...Good luck...

I know on my 4WD chevy truck the rotors are only held on by the caliper and lug nuts.Pull the wheel, then the caliper and the rotor pulls right off.Much better than the 2WD where you got to pull the bearing. The Z71 may be a whole different beast though...

SBN, the second rotor is it... If you wanted to have it turned, how's that supposed to fit on a standard brake lathe?

Thanks for the input guys....

They can turn those while still on the vehicle.

[colour=blue]Remove the hub & rotor as one unit and give it to the machine shop. They use the bearing outer races to centralise the rotor on the lathe.

OR

Get them turned on the vehicle.

My preference is the former. If the rotors are due for a turn, the bearings are due for new grease.
