Changing steering cable

What is the best way to pull in a steering cable from helm side or engine side? 2001 four winns 298 Vista with twin vp 5.7 gsipefs .

undo steering cable from transom assembly. tie a section of rope onto the end of the cable.

undo the steering cable from the helm.

pull cable up to helm. you may need a helper

connect new cable to rope, pull and push back the other way
