Where is the sender for the temp gauge on a 4.3 omc? Is this a fairly easy task?

Usually in the intake manifold just starboard of the thermostat housing, or in the thermostat housing itself.

Is this a fairly easy task?

If you have to ask that, you shouldn't be messing with it at all.

If you are talking about the water temperature sender, then I think Don is exagerating a little (shouldn't mess with it comment!)!! The sendor just screws into the engine (usually near the thermostat housing) so its not difficult to change, just be very carefull tightening the new one as you can damage them easily by over-tightening. The gauge is also not difficult to change, even if you are not mechanically inclined I would not consider this a difficult job. Why are you changing the sender and gauge? It's rare that the gauges go wrong? If something is not working you should be asking for advice on how to find the faulty part then replace it, don't just change everything in the hope to fix the problem.

Re: Changing temp gauge and sender

Thanks guys. Ive posted before about this temp problem. Everything in the engine seems alright( risers and what not) I know my trim gauge bounces around a lot. With my temp gauge, the needle is always in or very close to the red. My speedo, tach, oil pressure, and fuel all seem to be fine. It's just those two that have been giving me problems.
