Hi all,
I am thinking about changing my Volvo 280 transom shield and outdrive to the newer style with hydraulics.
I have purchased the newer transom shield which uses the large pin to suspend the leg from.
The part #on the shield is 104114011 and below that on the tag is another #4101501467k
My question is what is the part #of the Y pipe that is needed for my v8 application?
I am running the AQ 260 engine. Is it possible to reuse my existing flywheel cover and change the PDS to to the fine spline or do I need a new bell housing to accommadate the transom shield. What would the part # of the bell housing be.Lastly I have stainless steel exhaust manifolds that I would like to reuse will they fit the new y pipe with some slight modification?

Thank you very much in advance

Cheers

The numbers don't give me any clue on what you have purchased, is it a 290 transom? Pictures?

the transom is the later style 290 ,sorry but i don't have the parts close by for pics but the tag on the outdrive reads
872206 and below that is DP-C if that helps.
Thanks for the response,
Cheers.

You can use your PDS housing, you will need a fine spline shaft, but it will all fit your housing and fit in the 290 transom shield with no problem. I did it with my old 27 Bayliner.
The hole in the transom will be bigger, so if your transom isn't rotten, all you have to do is cut the hole bigger.
Here is a comparison of the different holes.

On the newer 290 transom, this Y pipe fits.

Notice the layout of the flange. The old 290 exhaust has a "smiley" look, while this one has 3 round holes + boltholes.

From your riser to this pipe, you will need 2x pipe-bends. You probably have the old style Volvo riser, that goes at a 20? angle(approx) down. There is nothing standard you can use for this connection(as far as I know), so you will have to weld something yourself or change manifolds, so you can use original Volvo bends.

Thank you both Don and DK for your quick responses,I did know that I would be cutting out the transom to accomidate the new shield
I.m glad to know that everything else will come together one way or another.
Cheers.
