Re: Changing trailer height

Never thought about a drop axle and if what I've done doesn't work I may investigate that further. I went ahead and had a leaf added to both springs as well as re-arch them. The boat now sits 2" higher and has lots of clearance between the keel and axle as well as tires and fenders. The guy at the spring shop said it will sag some over time but not as low as it was so I should still have plenty of clearance. Will see how it tows Saturday when we go fishing.

Re: Changing trailer height

Towed this rig about 25 miles one way saturday and it rode nice and smooth there and back. No swaying and no harsh bouncing. But the nicest part was launching and loading. I backed down the ramp stopped at the waters edge undid the winch strap and safety chain then backed another foot or so and hit the brakes. My son said it slid off the trailer like it was greased. Loading was almost as easy, he led the boat up to the trailer with the rope in a front cleat, and once it slid up on the bunks he tossed the rope to me (standing in front of the trailer on dry land) and with a light tug it pulled up to within a foot of the winch post. Hooked up the strap and a couple of turns latter it was hooked up. I've used this ramp before and always had to back so far in to launch and retreive the boat, this was NICE, being able to stay dry and not have to balance on the trailer in the water....... Anyway, thanks to all who offered suggestions and advice, really appreciate the help.
