Hi.
I have a 1990 Mariner 115 with a blown power head. Got a 1989 Merc 115 for a song so I want to swap engines instead of doing a rebuild (engines are identical except branding and transom mount). I want to use the transom mount from the mariner. What is the easiest way to make this swap. Would preferably like to leave the transom mount in place and not break the seals around the transom bolts. Reason I want to keep the mariner one instead of using the merc one is the mariner has trim in better condition and it is a much heavier build and also longer (covers more area on the back of the transom).
I suppose I could remove the power head off the merc and drop it onto the lower unit and transom mount of the mariner, but I was hoping I could find an easier solution.
Thanks for the advice.
