I have an early 2000s 185 ssi chaparral ssi with the 5.0 efi set up with the cooled fuel system. I am looking to replace the fuel pump itself. Is there any service manual or tips to do this? I cannot find to much info online. Thanks in advance.

Being a 2000 it should be cool fuel which is located port side behind the motor mount. The fuel pump part number is 861156A1 and is listed as NLA. It can still be found

To remove, the plastic cover is removed with latches top and bottom.
There are 2 nuts holding a brass bracket plate.
Disconnect the plug and fuel line going into the pump.
The other end is removed and is held in by O rings only

The remove the other end of the fuel line a screw is removed which has a long pin on the end. This would not need to be removed to just change the pump, but may be needed to inspect cooler. The point is if this ie removed make sure the screw pin goes back in the slot in the fuel line. If it does not wind up in the slot, the fuel line will come back out and fuel goes in the bilge.

Use glycerin on O rings to reinstall, can be done without but works better.
