Charge 2-12V 12V 12/24V Run Switch wiring

On my Bass Tracker Boat I have a switch that says "Charge 2-12V" top position, 12V center position and 12/24V Run bottom position. When trying to replace my trolling motor plug and recepticle the wires came unplugged from the back of the switch. There are 6 spades on the back of the switch numbered 1 through 6. I've got 4 wires coming from my 2 batteries - 2 positives and 2 negatives that through a buss block become a Black (neg) and orange (pos) from one battery and Black (neg) and red (pos) from the other battery. I have a black wire and a red wire coming from my trolling motor recepticle. The wires were numbered (not correctly), and when I plugged them in number to number, they got really hot really fast. Does anyone know what order to plug them in? There were no jumper wires.
Also, what do each of the switch positions really do?
