Charge Coil Testing

I recently tested my charge coil (strator) and got a reading of 560 Ohms. I know that this is below the "accepted" level. My question is that if I operate my engine with this same strator, what is it affecting? Is it really that far gone that I need to replace it?
BTW, is off of a 1982 Johnson 150 HP.
Professional advice?

If the mtr is still running good, run it. Try another ohmmeter and test again.
