Well, I am starting to get ready for this year's season.

I have a deep cycle charger and of course will charge my deep cycle battery used for trollong motor.

So here is the question, Can I charge my cranking battery with a deep cylce charger?
If so , any precautions?

Thanks,

Re: charging a cranking battery

Not familiar with your charger but I had a charger once with a switch for both batteries. When in the TM position, the output voltage was slightly lower.

Regardless, should be no reason you can't do what you want. Just might not have 100% charge on your cranker. But you would surely have enough to get started and let the engine finish it off.

On a normal day; 80 degrees, 70% rel hum, my full ragular battery will read 12.75v (give or take) after removing the charger for 24 hrs....so that the voltage will have had time to settle out. Colder or hotter will cause differences in the number.

Your TM charger will probably only get you to 12.55 ish, but that's plenty.

My 2c,

Mark

Re: charging a cranking battery

It'll work fine. TM chargers charge slowly. Conventional chargers charge faster, but that's not good for a TM battery. Slow or fast charging a Starting battery both work.
