charging system not working...

Hey folks,

So apparently, the stator is dead. Anyone know how I can go about replacing this? Is it a difficult job? Mechanic wants $420 +tax

Usually its just the rectifier that goes bad. It would help to know what motor you have.

I would start with checking all connection's, then check the rectifier. I think I could count on one hand the amount of stators' I've ever replaced. Ask the man how he checked the rectifier, and stator. A blank stare is not a answer.
