Re: charging system output

I think that your motor only charges 6 amps at WOT. The voltage you see going to your battery is going to be dependant on the condition of the battery. If the battery isn't fully charged you will see less than the 13 to 15 volts. It can take a good while for your motor to charge your battery to full charge if the battery isn't fully charged to begin with. Check the voltage at WOT then shut the motor down and check it again to see if the voltage is less. At least this will give you an indication if the system is charging at all.

Good luck :)

Re: charging system output

Hi Guy,
Try disconnecting the spark plug wires, then crank the engine for a few seconds. Now take a voltage reading, now start the engine and read the voltage it should start comming up if the charging system is putting out.
Good luck

Re: charging system output

sounds like the charging system is dead.....even at 6 amps charge, the voltage should climb to 13 rather shortly.....

Re: charging system output

Schematic is right, you're not getting any charge. Start checking wiring (from rectifier to the battery and the main ground from motor to battery (-). If all is OK, then the likely culprit is voltage regulator/rectifier.
Jim
